You might think that if you've seen one good antivirus software you've seen them all. You might even think they are interchangeable. They all cost about the same and they all do pretty much the same stuff. So what makes VIPRE Antivirus 2014 and VIPRE Internet Security 2014 any different? Our response to any inquiry regarding the quality of one over another is threefold. First, check the type of accolades the product has won, including the ranking with OPSWAT. In this case, VIPRE is Gold Certified with OPSWAT for their antivirus software and bronze certified for their firewall software. Second, make sure the interface is simple enough to avoid inducing emotional trauma while operating (something that many programmers have completely neglected over the years in a failed effort to realize that we aren't all giant nerds). And finally, make sure that the company selling you the product is confident enough in it to compare to their competition, as VIPRE does below in their graphic (because they have enough guts to show you where they outperform their competition AND where they underperform). User reviews are good too but you never know which are real and which are bogus.
If we were to choose one product line from VIPRE to purchase it would be the Internet Security package. It's the superior product based off of the additional features you get, but if you want to save a couple of bucks then you can elect to simply purchase the Antivirus on its own. However, don't sell yourself short by getting the cheapest stuff. Free antivirus software can come in handy but it's also like buying a car with the smallest engine on the market. That means your brand new BMW comes with a wimpy in-line 4 banger. Don't drive around town with a lawnmower engine...kick in the extra couple of bucks to unlock the full features and usefulness of your computer's only defense against the royal s**theads that populate the internet causing rampant plagues of viruses.
Threat Track Security (the manufacturer) released both of their new products, Antivirus 2014 and Internet Security 2014 on September 19th, 2013, and the buzz has already started regarding the two newest features they offer. The first is called Search Guard, and will actually flag dangerous internet sites with a red X while browsing using most major search engines. This is very useful for those of us who partake in "dangerous web browsing activities" ...if you know what I mean. The other is called Social Watch, and will scan your own Facebook page for bad links, warning your friends of the attack. Think about it! How often have you seen a bunch of BS on your friend's page, or your own, followed by people posting something like: "my account got hacked, do not click on any links..." It's a common scenario that VIPRE deals with quickly and easily.
We are SureSoftware.com are big fans of free downloads, Open Source, and trial software. We want you to test out multiple programs for your PC before deciding on one. However, the caveat is that ultimately you DO need to buy one to get the best protection you can. It's not worth the headache not to for such a small investment. Give VIPRE a try and decide if it is right for you. We came away very impressed during testing and are sure that it will do everything you need it to. The new features for 2014, Search Guard and Social Watch are the bomb, and something that everyone will expect and need moving forward.
